They were waiting in the pre-euthanasia room for their turn to die. Some as young as 10 weeks old—tiny lives that had not had a chance to begin. On Thursday, staff at the Kern shelter called us in desperation. They were about to euthanize over 28 dogs—three entire litters of motherless puppies among them—to make room for a massive hoarding/boarding case.
